MilGAM participation in ‘The Future of Gambling Regulation in the UK’ inquiry
Professor Matt Fossey, Co-Director of the Centre for Military Gambling Research, took part in an evidence session today, as part of the ongoing inquiry into 'The Future of Gambling Regulation in the UK’‘. The session was held by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Gambling Reform, and was focused on gambling in the Armed Forces.
Professor Fossey discussed the research undertaken by MilGAM, addressing military-specific risk factors regarding gambling, as well as the various impacts that gambling has on Armed Forces personnel. The All-Party Parliamentary Group concluded that:
“The Government must urgently act to better protect the armed forces community from gambling-related harms”
