Scoping the Accessibility of Safer Gambling Information in HM Armed Forces, or SAGE, is a two part work programme.

Stage 1 involved surveying and interviewing serving personnel, friends and family affected by the gambling habits of service personnel, and military health and welfare staff who help those personnel experiencing harmful gambling.

Stage 2 involves surveying and interviewing personnel enrolled, in and undertaking, Phase 2 training to identify gambling behaviour prevalence,  associated risky lifestyle behaviours, and how personnel seek help and cope with the impacts these behaviours may have on them.

Project ACTIVATE is about developing a free resource app that enables the user to follow a gambling support programme for 12 weeks using. This project was informed by both published evidence and by those veterans with experience of gambling difficulties. The app, ACT Vet, uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles and is structured in a series of 'steps'.

ACT Vet is currently in its pilot phase and is looking for testers. Could you be an app tester? The first 150 app testers to complete the 12 week programme will receive a £75 gift voucher.

Look Back to Move Forward is a project working with veterans to develop a new timeline-based assessment of gambling, alcohol use and mental health. The project is looking to identify when in a veteran’s journey their addiction and mental health challenges arose, as well as monitoring progress through treatment and support.
